About the Author
Charles E. ?Tremendous? Jones is a publisher and motivator who has gained a reputation as an inspirational humorist and book evangelist. He is the author of "Life is Tremendous?7 Laws of Leadership," with more than 2,000,000 copies in print in twelve languages. Two of his speeches, "The Price of Leadership" and "Where Does Leadership Begin?" have been enjoyed by millions. Charles E. Jones was born in Alabama and grew up in Pennsylvania. He and his wife Gloria now reside in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and have six children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. For more than fifty years his purpose and passion has been exciting people to read, think, and share. In 2002 he received the Doctor of Humane Letters from the Central Pennsylvania College and in 2003 their new library was named the Charles ?T? Jones Leadership Library in recognition of his love for reading and sharing great books.

Absolutely amazing book.

This is a dinky little pamphlet of a book based on a speech Albert E.N. Gray gave to a group of Prudential life insurance agents back in 1940.
I hesitated to do a Note on it for a while because it’s so short (this Note will be about as long as the “book”) but it’s so packed with goodness that I figured we’d have fun unpacking the wisdom.
(Plus, I got such great feedback on Courage Under Fire by James Stockdale—which was another super short speech-book I almost didn’t create a Note on—so here we are. And... While we’re on the topic, James Allen’s As a Man Thinketh falls under the super-short-but-awesome category as well as do Wallace D. Wattles’s Science of Being Great + Science of Getting Rich! :)

Word for word the most valuable book you'll ever own

The common denominator on its own is five stars... However... This edition... well, it has these quotes on the side that honestly bother me. I rather just have the essay and that is it, and here's why:
Quotes are only worth to a person when they are learned through a long journey. For example, reading a long book that takes you days or even weeks to complete— and when you are done with it and you very familiar with the author's personality, story and writing style—then, and only then, you look back and say: “you know what? I like what he said here” at this point it will stick to you, you will remember that quote for a very long time because you have associated it (linked it) with the many hours you spent reading the book.
On the other hand, if you are given 34 quotes (and this book has that many, plus one on the cover)... well I can tell you, I just read it and I barely remember one or two and if you ask me tomorrow I won’t remember any. So this takes it down to four stars, I wish it didn't have those annoying quotes; I rather come across those quotes through further reading so I can truly remember them and apply them to my life.
Now, it also has this list of books in the back... not impressed. A lot of the books in the list are more of a "personality ethic", and there are so many better titles that are of a "character ethic" (Stephen Covey's terms). Not all of them, and in fact I have added a few to my "to-read" list but as I said... Not impressed... 3 stars…

Powerful wisdom in pocket-sized book

I highly recommend this small book to anyone who has chosen to excel in life. I have purchased several copies and given them out to friends, business acquaintances, family members, clients... I have my personal copy that I read at least once a twice a month. The wisdom in it applies to every industry and every aspect of life - and that is why the book is called "The Common Denominator of Success."
