In the twenty-year evolution of computerized manufacturing solutions, most manufacturers primarily applied and still apply point solutions to department issues. Book 3.0 explains how to develop an overall operations process definition. This definition determines operations dependencies for the entire plant in the supply network. The operations process definition as the MOM Master User Requirement Specification maps out the “As-Is” inefficient operations and the “To-Be” reengineered efficient operations.


Current leaders and managers of most manufacturers have a very limited vision of how their plants must operate in the global market in five or ten years to be competitive in 2020–2025. Today’s manufacturing managers generally do not have a concept of the total engineering cost to transform their paper-based operations into real-time manufacturing using artificial intelligence for their work processes.


The proven reality of manufacturing operations is that manufacturing innovation requires an iterative continuous improvement process through MOM systems engineering. This requires leaders to accept innovation with managed risk to move manufacturing operations technologies forward. Operations intelligence is high-risk innovation. Period. But by 2025, those manufacturers who have not adopted paperless processes for intelligent operations will simply not be able to compete globally and will fail in business. I choose to buy this book because of acquiring knowledge about IFA, and insight from elder Professor Wande Abimbola.
This book validates things that I already knew and it shed more light on issues regarding benefits of IFA, speculations, misconceptions and taboos and the common similarities and differences among the IFA practice all around the world. Most importantly, the book touched on early Yoruba life, Ifa teachings, education, humanity, ceremonies, rituals, dates and numbers.
I will recommend this book "Ifa Will Mend Our Broken World" to all IFA scholars and to those who seek to know about Yoruba culture and traditions.

The contents of the book are fantastic. The book felt apart with in a week.

The book "Ifa Will Mend Our Broken World" is very detailed in explaining the Yoruba belief. Abimbola makes it easy to understand what the Yoruba way of life is about. Unfortunately the book, the paper back it self leaves a lot to be desired. The book felt apart before I even got passed page 13. I did contact the seller and he said that I must have gotten a lemon. Unfortunately this is not true. Recently I spoke with some one who had purchased the same book and said that he had lost pages to his book for it had fallen apart before he got to finish reading his book. So basically you have to be very careful with the book it self. I really want to keep my book for a long time I feel that the information it has is something that I want to revisit over and over. I've glued some of the pages back and have thought about maybe binding it and probably will. I just feel that for the price I paid for it and being brand new when I first bought it this should have not happened. It is poorly put together, very undeserving of the contents of the book.

Physicist Richard Feynman has a reputation as a bongo-playing, hard-partying, flamboyant Nobel Prize laureate for his work on quantum electrodynamics theory, but this tends to obscure the fact that he was a brilliant thinker who continued making contributions to science until his death in 1988. He foresaw new directions in science that have begun to produce practical applications only in the last decade: nanotechnology, atomic-scale biology like the manipulation of DNA, lasers to move individual atoms, and quantum engineering. In the 1960s, Feynman entered the field of quantum gravity and created important tools and techniques for scientists studying black holes and gravity waves. Author Krauss (The Physics of Star Trek), an MIT-trained physicist, doesn't necessarily break new ground in this biography, but Krauss excels in his ability, like Feynman himself, to make complicated physics comprehensible. He incorporates Feynman's lectures and quotes several of the late physicist's colleagues to aid him in this process. This book is highly recommended for readers who want to get to know one of the preeminent scientists of the 20th century.

Separating the man and his science from the legend

I still remember the day when, as a kid, I first came across the irrepressible Richard Feynman's memoirs "Surely you're joking Mr. Feynman". Within a few hours I was laughing so hard that tears were coming out of my eyes. Whether he was fixing radios 'by thinking', devising novel methods of cutting string beans in a restaurant or cracking the safes at Los Alamos, Feynman was unlike any scientist I had ever come across. Feynman died in 1988 and James Gleick's engaging and masterful biography of him appeared in 1993. Jagdish Mehra's dense, authoritative scientific biography came out in 1996. Since then there has been a kind of "Feynman industry" in the form of tapes, books, transcripts, interviews and YouTube video clips. While this has kept Feynman alive, it has also turned him into a kind of larger-than-life legend who is more famous in the public mind for his pranks and other exploits than for his science. Most laymen will tell you that Feynman was a brilliant scientist but would be hard-pressed to tell you what he was famous for. It's time that we were again reminded of what most contributed to Richard Feynman's greatness- his science. Lawrence Krauss's biography fulfills this role. You could think of Gleick's biography as a kind of Renaissance painting, an elaborate piece of work where he gets everything accurate down to the eyebrows of the men, women and Gods. Krauss's biography is more like the evocative impressionistic art of the French masters, more of a lucid sketch that brings out the essence of Feynman the scientist.

The biography is essentially aimed at explaining Feynman's scientific contributions, their relevance, importance and uniqueness. Thus Krauss wisely avoids pondering over oft-repeated details about Feynman's personal life. He compresses descriptions of Feynman's childhood, the tragic story of his first wife's death and their extremely touching relationship and his time at Los Alamos into brief paragraphs; if we want to learn more we can look up Gleick or Feynman's own memoirs. What concerns Krauss more than anything else is what made Feynman such a great scientist. And he delivers the goods by diving into the science right away and by explaining what made Feynman so different. Perhaps Feynman's most unique and towering ability was his compulsive need to do things from scratch, work out everything from first principles, understand it inside out, backwards and forwards and from as many different angles as possible. Krauss does a great job in bringing out this almost obsessive tendency to divine the truth from the source. It manifested itself at a very early age when Richard was cranking out original solutions to algebra and arithmetic problems in school. And it was paramount in his Nobel Prize winning work.

Krauss succinctly explains how this intense drive to look at things in new ways allowed Feynman to do novel work during his PhD with John Wheeler at Princeton in which he formulated theories that described antiparticles as particles traveling backwards in time. Later Feynman also applied the same approach in using a novel method based on the principle of least action to explain the dizzying mysteries of quantum electrodynamics. Krauss does an admirable job in explaining the physics behind these contributions in layman's terms. Feynman's "sum over histories" prescription involved taking into consideration all of the infinite paths that a particle can take when getting from the beginning to the end point. This was a bizarre and totally new way of looking at things, but then quantum mechanics is nothing if not bizarre. As Krauss describes, the moment of revelation for Feynman came in a meeting where, using his techniques and intellectual prowess, he could finish in a few hours a complicated calculation for mesons that had taken another researcher several months. Krauss also narrates how Feynman brought the same freewheeling, maverick approach to thinking about superfluidity, beta decay, the strong nuclear force, gravity and computing and the book contains the most complete popular scientific treatments of Feynman's thoughts about these important problems that I have seen. The approach did not always work (as it did not in case of superconductivity) but it encouraged other physicists to think in new ways. In fact as Krauss lucidly narrates, Feynman's great influence on physics was not just through the direct impact of his ideas but also through the impact of his unconventional thinking which inspired students and other scientists to think outside the box.

As scientifically brilliant as Feynman was, Krauss also does not gloss over his professional and personal flaws and this biography is not a hagiography. Professionally, Feynman's independent spirit meant that he often would not read the literature and would stay away from mainstream interests which his colleagues were pursuing; while this greatly helped him, on more than one occasion it led to him being scooped. At the same time Feynman also did not care about priority and was generous in sharing credit. As for mentoring, while Feynman was a legendary teacher by way of example, unlike his own advisor John Wheeler he left few bonafide graduate students because of his compulsive tendency to solve problems himself. On a personal basis, probably the most shocking description concerns Feynman's womanizing. It's hard to say how much of it is true, but Krauss describes Feynman's affairs with colleagues' wives, his elaborate methods to seduce women in bars and the personal and emotional entanglements his womanizing caused. At least one fact is jarring; apparently when he was a young professor at Cornell, the boyish-looking Feynman used to pretend to be a graduate student so he could date undergraduates. This kind of behavior would almost certainly lead to strict disciplinary action in a modern university, if not something more drastic. In his early days Feynman was also known for not suffering fools gladly, although he mellowed as he grew older. Later on Krauss details Feynman's more publicly known activities, including his bongo playing, nude painting and his famous demonstration of the failure of the O-rings in the Challenger space shuttle disaster. Feynman's absolute insistence on honesty and truth in science and on reporting the negative results along with the positive ones also comes across, and should be a model for modern scientists. The biography does a good job of demonstrating that in science, true success needs fearlessness, determination and an unwavering belief in your ideas.

Ultimately, it's not Feynman's bongos, nude art and relentless clowning that make him a great man. However, since his death, he has often been perceived that way by the public largely due to the industry that has grown up around him. But Richard Feynman was defined first and foremost by his science and his striking intellectual originality that allowed him to look at the physical world in wholly unanticipated new ways. Krauss's biography performs a timely and valuable service in reminding us why, when we talk about Feynman, we should first talk about his physics.

With the disclaimer that Richard Feynman is my all-time favorite physicist, I thought this was a great book. Lawrence Krauss can get goofy with his writing sometime - like in A Universe From Nothing, for instance - but here, he expressed no ideology other than that Feynman was a remarkable person and physicist. That's a claim that is very hard to argue with. I've read the other biographies, but I get the most insight into how Feynman approached problems from this treatment of his life and work. Krauss digs up some of the best accounts of Feynman from people who worked with him or were inspired by him. Being a physicist himself, Krauss went back to Feynman's original publications and the publications of those who built their work on his and even if he had not written this book, I'm certain that he gained a remarkable perspective on how his own work was influenced by Feynman. Now, if you want to read about the adventures that Feynman had - and they are awesome adventures - I would suggest reading Surely, You're Joking Mr. Feynman, What Do You Care What Other People Think and Tuva or Bust. You won't regret it. However, if you want to get a sense of how physics was influenced by Feynman, read this book.

Excellent view of a genius' life, heavy on the physics

Having read all of Feynman's autobiographical works, and a good amount of his lectures, I am a fan. This book is *much* better than the previous biography _Genius_ but is still a little drier than I would like for such a raconteur.

The physics content is probably some of the most accessible I've read of his quantum work, but there's no masking that it's still some of the hardest concepts in science even today.

To sum up: I enjoyed the book, I enjoyed learning the things about this man that I hadn't learned before, and I learned more of the physics too.

good but not excellent

FOR THE WRITER, good but not excellent ..did not like the Nephrology at all, need review the CNS stroke has serious fatal mistakes in mangament. Where is the preventive medicine. ? ADD CHAPTER FOR THAT. Toxicology need additions. dermatology need additions too. where is ENT? shock is not well written. pulmonology is also need revision may be you need to take another help from another good teacher or somone who have a lot to add. you book is good but not excellent ...i liked the organization and short notes that make you remember quickly and finish the book from a to z in short time.

excellent book that has usmle world concepts in it.

This is a great book which when used with usmle world, improves your score by 30 to 40 points. it covers lots of concepts from usmle world and kaplan q bank . a must have in conjuction with the q banks. i highly recommend it. its compact and easy to read and so memorization is easy. great job Dr. Dhesi!!

has the potential of a great book, but still far from it

Spelling mistakes continue, even tho it's the second edition. Still disappointed and some of the information is incorrect, therefore, must correlate with another text.

The good thing is the organization and flow of the material is great. He covers a good deal of topics

I think it's best to avoid this book, it's better to use another book and go through the qbanks (Kaplan and Uworld) and add any important information yourself.

About the Author

Steven Adler was the drummer for Guns N' Roses from 1985 to 1990. In 2003, he formed Adler's Appetite and continues to perform with them live. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Carolina Adler.

The real hideous truth of an addict's fall

Dealing with drug addicted family members who lie, cheat and steal--I was excited by Steven Adler's honesty here. He willingly describes to Spagnola the hideous depths of his addiction. Pus filled wounds, shoving and hitting his saintly mother, stealing from his family, ruining his health, his looks, his career with drugs. He does is it all and he loses it all. I was most excited by the honest first person account of the addict told unflinchingly with the finesse of a professional writer who is not a "ghost" but articulately groups all of Adler's mumblings into a narrative.

This book made me really proud that I kicked the addicts out of my life. Because we love our addicted relatives we always feel guilty leaving them, but they can only pull you down into the gutter with them. Excited to read the upcoming book by Adler's mother that Spagnola also co-wrote.

Interesting book- controversial life.

It's difficult to limit my review to the BOOK instead of the AUTHOR because honestly I want so badly to discuss his obvious personal themes throughout his book such as the fact that he comes across so painfully and pathetically irresponsible and unintelligent with his blatant misguidance etc etc. I will instead try to refrain from delving into his personal issues and convey my feelings about this book. It is definitely honest and sincere though painful at times because you feel sorry for this poor fool and lost soul.

The book is written in an almost child-like manner so he must have surely written it himself as I'm sure a ghost writer would have come across sounding a little more mature and professional. At times it really did seem like a kid was writing it- telling you pointless random stories...(It literally almost reads like this: "There was this one time in London and there was this scary guy and I thought he looked scary so I got scared but it turned out he was okay and I went home and was really relieved!") The book is full of these kinds of "stories."

Several times throughout I thought he could have spared us the details of the hookers and porn stars and groupies doing various vulgar things to each other and to him. We know all about sex, drugs and rock-n-roll so no real need to give us all the details. (That was one thing I appreciated about Adler's former bandmate Duff McKagan's book was that he at least kept it a little classier and didn't delve into all the sexual specifics. Some things could be kept private.)

Steven Adler's book also gives us all the druggy details of life in a rock band. One seriously has to wonder though if he really is rehabilitated. He even admits that you'd be delusional in thinking that hitting all these horrendous lows would render his lesson learned. This book is definitely entertaining though tragic because rarely do you see how rock and roll devours some poor lost souls. Most of the tell-all rock star auto-bios now end with how well they are doing and how successful they are with rock music and their sobriety etc. However, this book never kids us into thinking all is now well with the protagonist. He still has many battles to fight and many demons to conquer. Even he knows that conquering them may not be in the cards. It was rather chilling when he admitted that sometimes the only way to escape addiction is to die. How profound and tragic. But I am going on about his life instead of his work...

I enjoyed this book because it was entertaining but as I write that I see how weird it is to find someone's tragedy "entertaining." It wasn't necessarily enjoyable entertaining but interesting entertainment. I did gain some understanding about this person and I have a new-found respect and admiration for him after reading his story. I appreciate his desire to paint a true and sincere portrait of his life. His book is an honest look at his struggle with addiction and a humble tribute to his former bandmates. I found it in poor taste though to air out his dirty laundry involving his mother. For no real reason he states he currently hates her. The book should have left this out. At any rate, I wish him well and thank him for such an honest portrait of a rock and roll life gone severely astray. This makes for a good read whether you are a Guns-n-Roses fan or not. If you enjoy reading about rock stars' lives complete with all the necessary evils- sex, drugs and rock-n-roll- then you will be satisfied with this.

Good read, definitely the craziest of the bunch!!

I have read all of the biographies they have put out to date. I enjoyed each one for the individuality. But, let's face it. The time they are writing about was all drugs and alcohol so how much can they even remember?

The book did a great job of laying out his childhood and how he felt the earlier years of GNR went down. Sometimes, it feels like he is trying to take credit for very minor things just to say he made a contribution (talking them out of doing the glam for instance). His accounts of their maiden trip and events differ greatly from the others. Even his mentions of the Farm Aid incident just don't add up. It is very interesting to read about all of the things that occurred and be able to check them out on YouTube moments after.

I'd definitely recommend this book for any GNR fan. But, if you are were only going to read one, I'd def go with Duff's. Adler has admittedly had a tough run of it since getting kicked out of the band, but he does seem to be humbled at this point.

About the Author
Dr. Bergman was launched into chiropractic by a devastating accident that nearly ended his life. At 30 years old Dr. Berman was a hard working single dad when he was hit by a speeding car that left him with 2 fractured legs, a fractured skull and chest, bruised liver and heart. Thankfully, Dr. Bergman received the finest medical care that saved his life. However after 4 knee surgeries and multiple medications, Dr. Bergman knew that surgeries and drugs were not the answer to regaining health. Disillusioned by the modern symptom based mechanistic health care system, Dr. Bergman began a quest to find a vitalistic-based healthcare model to regain his health. He became an instructor at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles Specializing in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics and multiple Chiropractic Techniques. Dr. Bergman developed his own techniques and has an extensive knowledge of human anatomy and human physiology that few can match. Dr. Bergman’s unique approach allows for many successes even with the most challenging cases.

Great book! Passed out a number of copies to my friends who deal with this issue! Read this book & get off the Drugs people! The pharmaceutical industry is Killing You! Dr. Bergman doesn't just tell it like it is --he is also extremely knowledgeable and is passionate about getting people healthy! He also has a book on Good Health which I highly recommend as well. The world needs a lot more doctors like him!

Dr. Bergman’s book on depression reveals his brilliant and functional strategies with depression and in managing overall health care. His practical suggestions can be implemented in everyday practices. His writings inspire his readers to carry out his suggestions.

This was written in my view in a highly readable, direct, concise, informative, clear prose style. The information was stimulating and I look forward to rereading the passages I highlighted so I can know better and better remember how to live healthier and how to prevent pain and suffering in myself and others (my elderly parents, for example) and also so I can feel more motivated to implement changes in my life. Thank you for this book. I look forward to reading the author's other books.
