An Effective Way to Learn Calculus

Twenty Key Ideas in Beginning Calculus is a labor of love written by a passionate teacher/author with a sincere interest in wanting his students to achieve real understanding of a difficult subject. The book is intended to serve as a bridge for beginning calculus students to study independently in preparation for a traditional calculus curriculum or as supplemental material for students who are currently in a calculus class. It aims to prepare a student to appreciate concepts involving the idea of a limit - a sophisticated concept sometimes called the "third plateau of mathematics" following "number" and "variable".

Chapters 1-14, teach "intuitive calculus" while the appendices contain "traditional calculus" proofs allowing the reader to customize their learning experience according to their ability and interest for rigor. There is a deserved emphasis on reviewing, reteaching, and rephrasing throughout the book.

The author repeatedly uses three proven techniques of effective teachers:
1) go from the "specific" to the "general" - abstract general principles from consideration of several well-chosen (specific) examples,

2) use visual representations - in this case over 100 detailed graphs and several interactive applets that demonstrate various concepts,

3) connect new ideas to previously learned knowledge or historical precedent to help the student see the "big picture".

While some teachers might have some different favorite examples to illustrate a given idea, all teachers and students will benefit from studying calculus using this approach.

more like a coffee table book than an info book, just wished had introduced more plants.
Buy this if you are completely new to indoor plants and saw beautiful trendy interiors on Instagram, this books talks about the most trendy plants right now.
Buy this if intend to use it as a display or showing guests your tastes, the photos of plants and homes are beautiful.
Don't get me wrong, I bought two of these and gave one as a gift because the book is indeed artistically made and to support the author, but
save the money if you already own more than one indoor plant and try to broaden your indoor plant knowledge.
If you want to style your home with indoor plants, try Instagram or Pinterest.

Human rights activist, pioneer for racial equality, internationally recognized expert on sports issues, scholar and author Richard E. Lapchick is often described as "the racial conscience of sport." Lapchick is the DeVos Eminent Scholar Chair and Director of the Sport Business Management Graduate Program in the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida. The stories are both heartwarming and genuine in their brief bio's of athletes from all kinds of backgrounds, all of whom have served as positive role models in their communities in addition to their dedication to sports. The diversity of their stories is a reminder of the ever evolving society we live in and how sports have been, and will continue to be an important part of American culture.

Great little Bible study book for kids...and mom

I am a homeschool mom and was looking for a nice Bible study to do with my elementary kids. This one had some good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did! It starts some really wonderful discussions and some thought provoking ideas for both the kids and mom. This book has become one of our favorite parts of school time.

Love this tool for our devotional time as a family !!!

I can't speak enough about this book . We have four kids from ages 4 months to 9 years old and we all absolutely love it and look forward to it every night as we do our devotional time. This book has brought us closer as a family while enjoying our time with God and his word. This is a great tool to dig in with the whole family I highly recommend it. Hope they have another coming out soon kids are already looking forward to it !!!
