About the Author
Linda E. Ledray, RN, PhD, SANE-A, FAAN
Linda Ledray is the founder and director of the Minneapolis-based Sexual Assault Resource Service (SARS), one of the first SANE programs, which she developed in 1977. SARS provides competent forensic-medical services to sexual assault survivors at seven hospital sites in Hennepin County, MN. Dr. Ledray is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota where she has taught in the School of Nursing and the Psychology Department. She has been active in humanitarian relief missions to Honduras, Thailand, and Bosnia and she has taught nationally and internationally on the topic of victim assistance, SANE-SART program development, and program evaluation. Dr. Ledray was on active duty mobilized at the 2nd General Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Dr. Ledray is the section editor for the Journal of Emergency Nursing, SANE section and has published many articles and books including Recovering from Rape (1994) and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Development and Operation Guide (1999). She is also a contributing editor for the International Travel News. Angelo P. Giardino, MD, PhD, MPH, FAAP Angelo Giardino is the medical director of Texas Children's Health Plan, a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, and an attending physician for the Texas Children's Hospital's forensic pediatrics service at the Children's Assessment Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Giardino completed his residency and fellowship training in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Immediately after his fellowship training, Dr. Giardino became the assistant, and then the associate, medical director at Health Partners of Philadelphia, where he had primary responsibility for utilization management, intensive case management, and health care data analysis. He also shared responsibility for the plan's quality improvement program. Additionally, Dr. Giardino began the Child Abuse and Neglect Team for Children with Special Health Care Needs, which was funded by a three-year grant from a local philanthropy. In 1998, he was appointed associate chair of clinical operations in the Department of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and in June of 1999 he was asked to chair the CHOP Quality Committee. These accomplishments are only a few of his career.

Matthew Kidman worked as a journalist at The Sydney Morning Herald covering media, telecommunications and commercial property. In 1997 he was appointed investment editor of the newspaper, with responsibility for all company coverage. He joined funds management outfit Wilson Asset Management in 1998 and over a 13-year period served as an analyst and portfolio manager. In 2003 he was appointed to the role of chief executive officer of the group. Wilson Asset Management specialises in small capitalisation companies and its flagship fund — WAM Capital — over a 12-year period delivered a return of more than 18 per cent per year, compared with the benchmark 8 per cent of the All Ordinaries index. This book is an extremely well written analysis of the stock market and how to invest for success. It effectively communicates a sensible methodology without resorting to the hype and overselling of other books of this type. It contains an impressively honest and down to earth approach that appears to be aimed at genuinely helping people and imparting real world information.

Matthew Kidman does an excellent job of demystifying investing into stocks and provides valuable guidelines for new and experienced investors alike. The book is cleverly structured to take you from a narrative of a real life investment experience, through the workings of companies and the stock market and finally concludes with a forecast of how the market may look in the short to medium term. I can thoroughly recommend this book to anyone contemplating investing in the stock market.

I did actually get some value out of this book, in part because much of it is contrary to my own investment philosophy. I think experienced investors, or at least those that have already digested other more substantial investment books, can possibly benefit from this. However, those that are new to investing, I think, will be poorly served by this book.

Frankly, I think this is one of the most vacuous books, on the subject of investment, that I have ever read.

This is the third edition of this book that I've purchased since I first became interested in screenwriting. The instructional portion continues to impress me and it has been updated to reflect new "rules" since the last edition. The book is actually divided into five books - how to write a screenplay, a workbook of 7 steps to a stunning script, proper formatting technique, writing & revising, and a marketing plan for selling your script. I recommend this book for all levels of writers, particularly beginners. It's an easy, enjoyable read. The large print is easy on the eyes. This is a very inexpensive book in light of all the information contained in it. If I could give it more than five stars, I would.

We've used this as or go-to formatting guide in school for half a decade, and this updated version includes indispensable additions. Most notably, the 'Formatting' section contains updates for multi-cam sitcom writing, updates for tv writing in general, including multiple timelines, rapidly changing points of view, and short montages. The last version was our bible, but this new version has replaced it. In my opinion, this is the most helpful and complete formatting guide in print. Essential for any person writing for feature or television.

Perfect for novices and more experienced screenwriters

I'm a novice to the screenwriting world, and am working on my first one. This book is perfect for me. It's easy to read, full of loads of information, fairly simple to return to sections you need for reminders. I'm about 3/4ths of the way through, slowly working on my screenplay while reading through it. I love that it talks about specs, those meant to be sold, not to be made with all the extra camera directions. Highly recommended for someone like me, who was clueless on how to go about writing a screenplay. I'm sure it's good for those who are more experienced with it but want to put their script in the necessary format for selling.

Really interesting and deep analysis

The book offers a really interesting and deep analysis about the management of music festivals and culture events in general. It is a top quality and realistic research about the Western European festival's situation taking into account the opinion and experiences of some of the best european managers in the field. This area is not fully analysed until now specially from the point of view of the main characters: the managers; and so, the book is a step forward in the management of music events. From my point of view music is becoming more and more important in our society, because basic needs are satisfied and others such as leisure and social needs are becoming crucial to human development and the union of different civilizations. So, there is a real need to analyse and improve the management of music and cultural organisation and in this sense this book offers a good and useful research for the future of this sector.

Moreover, I really love the conclusions and reflexions that the author gives and the dynamic and easy way of writing that author has. Besides, I really like the graphics and charts. They are not only helpful and useful, but also original.

About the Author
Julia Wood joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when she was 24. During her 37 years on the faculty, she taught classes and conducted research on personal relationships as well as gender, communication, and culture. She was named the Lineberger Distinguished Professor of Humanities and the Caroline H. and Thomas S. Royster Distinguished Professor of Graduate Education. In addition to publishing 25 books and 100 articles and book chapters, she has presented more than 100 papers at professional conferences and campuses around the country. Her accolades include 14 awards honoring her teaching and 16 awards recognizing her scholarship. She received her B.A. from North Carolina State University, her M.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University.

Thus far, this book is useful in that it gives great examples of application of theories, and even exercises that enable you to apply the theories yourself. As arduous as a Thories class can be, this is at least a decent way to learn it.
